- Preschool sessions are available as a 2-day or 4-day per week schedule for both 3- and 4-year-old children. The choices for 2 sessions per week are the Tuesday-Thursday or the Monday-Wednesday combination. Consider one of these choices if 2 sessions per week is your preference since children do make friends in their small group and begin to look for certain children. If you want 3 sessions per week, consider adding Fabulous Friday for enrichment. Monday through Thursday works well for 4 sessions per week.
- Children in the 3-year-old classes should understand how to use the bathroom independently. Occasional accidents are expected, but children may not wear diapers or Pull-Ups due to licensing requirements. Please send a change of clothes in case of accidents.
- Parents wishing for a full-time preschool experience, please mark both Monday/Wednesday AND Tuesday/Thursday on the Pre-Registration form. Your child will be enrolled in mornings or afternoons each day.
- Not sure your child is ready for Kindergarten? Consider the Young Fives class! It delays Kindergarten for a year while giving your child the time to develop physically, socially, and emotionally.
- Children at Oakwood for full time daycare have a preschool session as part of their day. Preschool is included in the full day daycare rate.
Three-Year-Old Classes
Morning Preschool: 9:00-11:30am
Afternoon Preschool: 12:30-3:00pm
Preschool classes are offered Monday through Thursday mornings for 3-year-old children. Children in these classes must be 3 by September 1, 2024. The time is structured so that children participate in activities from each curriculum area each day. Parents are encouraged to choose a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday combination of days, unless all 4 days are chosen.
Four-Year-Old Classes
Morning Preschool: 9:00-11:30am
Afternoon Preschool: 12:30-3:00pm
Preschool classes are offered Monday through Thursday mornings for 4-year-old children. These sessions are intended for children who may be starting Kindergarten in the fall of 2025. The time is structured so children participate in activities from each curriculum area each day. Parents are encouraged to choose a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday combination of days, unless all 4 days are chosen. Children are in groups of 8-10 with 1 teacher.
Young Fives’ Class
Morning Preschool: 9:00-11:30am
Children in this class must be 5 by September 1, 2024. The class will have curriculum specifically designed for the young five-year-old. This class will have 10-12 children with 1 teacher. The class meets Monday through Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:30. Fridays may be added as an extension and to further prepare them for their Kindergarten year.
Fabulous Fridays
Fabulous Friday is a center-based enrichment class offering a wide variety of activities including music, literature, drama, science, sewing, painting, and other art media. The children move freely from activity center to activity center. This is a high energy, fun, and exciting day! The class has 4-5 teachers and 4-6 parent volunteers.
DAY CARE
7:00am - 5:30pm
Full-day daycare children may participate in morning or afternoon preschool. The daycare routine includes center-based free choice activities, outside play, snack, and rest time.
Day care is also available on an hourly basis and may be used to extend your child’s day either before or after the preschool session. Arrangements may be made for “Early Drop Off” (6:45 a.m.) There is a $2.00 per day charge for this service.
