Oakwood Family -
Our church leadership has been discussing how to move forward in the midst of the unique challenges posed by the precautions we are taking to prevent the spread of Covid-19. While we are grieved by the need to take these actions, we trust that God will use this season to grow His Church.
All ministries, team and committee meetings are temporarily cancelled. This includes Sunday Worship, GEMS & Cadets, Ladies Bible Study, and so on. In this season, we are clearly reminded that it is the Lord who builds His Church. It is the Lord who works salvation. This is not about what my hands have done, nor about what your hands have done. In so many ways, it feels as though our hands are tied. We are humbled. Humbled to rely on God in prayer, and this, I have no doubt, shall be our strength as we unite our voices crying out to God.
I will continue to provide devotional thoughts and prayers via email to help us pray in unity during this difficult time. We will also provide a modified Sunday service via video available via Vimeo (Oakwood CRC Videos) through a link emailed on the weekend in addition to the usual audio recordings found on our church website http://www.oakwoodcrc.org/sermons.
If there are those of you who wish to participate in a small group, but are not currently in an O-90 group please let me know. We see such groups as a vital way to keep our community ties strong when we are not able to gather in a large setting.
We would also like to encourage everyone to check in on one another via phone calls and please let us know of any needs that exist in our Church family and in the community so we can respond with prayer and support.
We thank you for your ongoing support of God's work through Oakwood ministries through your tithes and offerings. We are grateful for the checks that have been sent in and we are also looking into possibilities for online giving as we navigate these weeks without full Sunday services.
We covet your prayers as we strive to follow the leading of God- Father, Son, and Spirit.
We will continue to update you as we know more.
In this season we are grateful to the God who first breathed His breath into our lungs. We hold to the faith that has sustained God's people in every situation since our creation. 'With unfaltering lip and heart we call this Savior', our Jesus, 'mine'. As we rest on Him, as we take courage from His divine love, may we grow together and become more fully the body of Christ in this world.
May His Kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Peace!
